Happy Birthday Hailey!!

Today is Hailey's birthday. She is finally 4. Yesterday we had put her birthday presents under the tree and she spent most of the day analysing them. Last night after we put Hailey to bed she came down stairs and said that she couldn't sleep. She was way too excited about her birthday. I told her that after I put Chloe to sleep I would come and lay by her (usually this works becuase by that time she is already asleep). But not last night. I put Chloe in her crib and Hailey was wide awake so I laid by her and she said, "Mom can we talk about my birthday".

I let her pick what she wanted for dinner. I was listing off several things like pizza, McDonalds or Wendys and she said that she wanted to go to Panda Express.

Today Hailey had a small birthday party with her friends from preschool. She had a great time.

Fun facts about Hailey:

1. She is very sarcastic. One day she was asking me lots of questions and one of my answers was I don't know. She then responded "See Mom you DONT know everything!" I just started laughing. Now that is her responce anytime I say "I don't know."

2. She is a fighter. She loves to wrestle with Nate, and will pick fights with him. No matter what he does to her she will come back for more. If she ends up crying she will come to me and I say well go get Dad, she will get a smile on her face and go after him.

3. She loves to read. After putting her to bed we give her a stack of books and she will sit in her bed and read them out loud to herself. Kaelynn and Hailey share a room, but we put them to sleep in different rooms because Hailey reads.

We are very glad that Hailey is in our family. She can always make us laugh. She is a great sister. We love you Hailey. Happy Birthday!

Temple Square

I have been wanting to take the girls to temple square to look at the lights. They have never seen them. Last year we were in Utah but we were busy moving into our house. (By the way we have been here 1 year as of yesterday!) So we went on Saturday night, and many things went wrong. First of all it hasn't really snowed much this year, except the night we decide to drive into SLC. It was snowing and the freeways were pretty bad. We passed several accidents. We finally get to Salt Lake and they are doing construction on the road that we decided to take. Nate grew up in a small town and does not like big cities or traffic, so this was not his idea of a good time. After what seemed like forever, we finally find a place to park and we start walking toward temple square. Not only was is snowing but it was FREEZING! The girls were cold and tired, because by this time it was way past their bed time.

The lights on temple square were very pretty and it was nice to see them, but we were all a bit grumpy. As you can see from the picture they were not to excited to take a picture.

We walked around and looked at the lights. Even though we were all grumpy it was amazing to see the temple. It was beautiful, and I love the feeling of being on the temple grounds. I just hope that my girls felt some of it while they were there.

When we got home Nate said that was the last time we were doing that. Hopefully by next year we will have forgotten.

SANTA!!

On Saturday morning we were watching a Christmas cartoon on TV. I thought that I heard a "HO HO HO, Merry Christmas!" over an intercom coming from outside. We paused our cartoon, but I thought it must have been in the cartoon because why would Santa be in outside. A few minutes later Nate was looking out the back window and said that he saw Santa! The girls both jumped up very excited and hurried to get dresses as fast as they could. It really was Santa riding around our neighborhood in the back of an ambulance. Once we were dressed we rushed outside to see him. Kaelynn and Hailey have both been very shy around Santa and this year was the same. But they did stand by him and get a candy cane. They were very excited!! What a good morning.

(As you can tell in the picture, they did not want to take their eyes off of me.)

Hailey update

Last week we had a check up on Hailey's ears. Since the last post about her ears she got an ear infection in the ear that had healed. When we went to this check up there was no infection, but she still had fluid in that ear and the hole is still in the other ear. The doctor seemed to be puzzled as what to do. She then checked Hailey's adenoids, which are enlarged. They could be causing all of her ear problems so she will have surgery on Dec. 30 to remove them and also fix one of her ears. If there is still fluid in her ear on the day of surgery she will have her 4th set of tubes put in and if there is no fluid then she will patch the hole in the other ear.

Last night Nate was talking to his mom about Hailey's surgery and she broke down in tears telling me that she did not want to have surgery. I feel so bad for her. This will be her fifth surgery. Hopefully this one will fix all the problems and will be the last one.

December Already!

I can not believe that it is already Decemeber. On Saturday we put up our christmas tree and the girls had fun decorating and listening to christmas music. This is the first year that we have been able to put lights up on the outside of our house. We put them up a few saturdays ago when it was still warm, but did not start turning them on until a little while ago. I love the holidays!

Thanksgiving

We have many things to be thankful for. On Thanksgiving I sat down with the girls while our turkey was cooking and we made a list of things that we were thankful for. It was fun to listen to their cute answers. We are thankful for family, the gospel, our home and our nice neighbors, Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and many more things. The list could go on and on. Here is the list that Kaelynn and Hailey came up with on their own.

This year was the first Thanksgiving that we had by ourselves. It is fun to share this time with family, but it was a fun experience for it to be just our family. Nate and I tried a new way to roast our turkey and it turned out wonderful. We spent most of the day cooking and eating.

One of our favorite traditions is to go shopping on black friday. We enjoy looking through the ads for good deals, and planning where to go. We have taken our girls with us the past two years and they have done very well.

I am glad that we have this time of year to reflect on the things that matter most and what we have in our lives to be thankful for. I am the most thankful for my wonderful husband, my three girls, and the Gospel.

Happy Halloween!

We love Halloween! Kaelynn was snow white, Haiely was a purple dragon, and Chloe was a chicken. Yesterday was full of Halloween activities. We were able to go and see Kaelynn at school in a costume parade. It was fun to see everyone dressed up. After that we came home and got ready to go back and help with Kaelynn's Halloween party at school. Nate was able to come home early from work so we were able to get our house ready for trick or treaters. We went trick or treating with our neighbors and the girls were very excited. It was a good day and they got a lot of candy!

Tenaya, Kaelynn and Makenzie at the bus stop ready for school.

Here is Kaelynn at the school parade.

Everyone is ready to go trick or treating.
